Natural Hair

My First Youtube Hair Tutorial

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I’ve been up all night editing my new YouTube video. I’m really pushing myself outside my comfort zone with all this content creation I’ve been working on 😰

I’ve also been cooking up some other event planning ideas. I haven’t forgotten about all my naturalistas in the Bay Area! We will still be turning up.

My Wednesday night group therapy class on anxiety is going well. So far I’ve been learning what it means to have anxiety, the different causes, and ways to lessen anxiety. I’ll dedicate a whole blog post and maybe even a YouTube video to what I’ve learned after I complete the 6 week series.

In other news this past week has given me a new found respect for YouTubers! First, I had the most stressful encounter with the post office when it came to delivering my packages. Last week I bought a studio backdrop and lighting on Amazon. The post office held my packages for 2 days because no one was at my house during delivery. Even after I sat on the phone for 2 hours to arrange a pickup. The post office is literally across the street from my house. Friday when I went to pick up they tried to hold the packages for a third day saying the courier took them out for delivery 😑 AGAIN! Why would my packages be out for delivery when you’ve tried to deliver to my house twice this is why I arranged to pick them up!!! After giving the supervisor a piece of my mind the courier drove back to the office to hand deliver my packages.

My favorite part is after going home and setting up all my equipment I discovered that a light bulb from one of my soft boxes doesn’t work. After going to Home Depot to search for the bulb, I learned the special bulb isn’t sold in stores and pretty expensive to buy separately. So I called Amazon to ask if they could send a replacement and instead they sent me a second ring light. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 I now have to send my soft boxes back and reorder them in order to replace ONE LIGHT BULB! So I have 2 ring lights and no soft boxes. Just great!!!! Lol

I decided to braid my hair this weekend and wanted to try doing a Youtube tutorial. Let me just say Youtube is harder than it looks. Sitting in front of all those lights and recording myself was so weird! I felt like I was talking to myself the whole time and I was so awkward on camera. Needless to say, I need more practice.

I’m expanding my horizons y’all. Just how it took me a while to get the hang of writing blogs, it will definitely take me a while to get into making and editing YouTube videos. Lucky you guys get to have front row seats in witnessing my growth!

Do me a favor… Watch, Like, Comment and Subscribe to my YouTube 😁

It took me hours to put this little video together lol hope you guys enjoy watching me figure this out.

Thanks for reading & we’ll talk more next week

After graduating with my BA in Communications specializing in Public Relations, I gained experience in fashion merchandising, wardrobe styling, event planning, branding, office administration, and marketing. When I'm not working, I am active in the art and fashion community in the Bay Area and throughout California. Working behind the scenes at events like LA Fashion Week, Sacramento Fashion Week, SFA Student Showcase and accompanying costume designers like Michael Costello has helped build my knowledge and business relationships in the fashion world. I am just a fashionista and creative writer, who loves thrifting. I absolutely love all things Beyonce as well. I grew up a book worm so if I'm not binge watching TV shows or listening to podcasts, most likely I have my nose in a book. I started this blog after college as a first generation graduate learning, growing, and struggling to figure life out. In hopes of aligning others on a similar quest, I blog about my journey through career obstacles, the ends and outs of love, surviving gentrification in the Bay Area, the fashion & art community, mental hygiene in the black community, and pop culture. I also give lifestyle tips on natural wellness, natural hair, being a plant mom, and DIY projects. I write as a form of healing and self care, I pray that sharing my journey will help motivate community healing, therapy and growth for black creatives & entrepreneurs.
